Sky Tavern, located just 20 minutes from Reno on scenic Mount Rose Highway, has been renowned for its affordable winter junior ski program. In keeping with its mission of providing affordable and free access to outdoor sports, Sky Tavern is proud to offer new world-class mountain bike trails as well as a summer and fall schedule of mountain bike clinics and programs.
Mountain Bike Trail Improvements at Sky Tavern
From cross-country style single track to technical downhill, flowy jump lines to a top-to-bottom trail built specifically for adaptive mountain bikes, Sky Tavern offers terrain for mountain bikers of all abilities and types.
Beginning in 2022, Sky Tavern began working with professional trail building company Momentum Trail Concepts to improve and redesign many of the resort’s trails. Trail building continues, and with mother nature’s assistance after a record-breaking winter and spring, the trails at Sky Tavern are better than ever.
Our Favorite Trails
- Rick Sutherland Trail: Built by Steve Wentz of Momentum Trail Concepts and in memory of "Wrong Way Rick" who was an inspiration to hundreds of riders, Rick Sutherland Trail is an intermediate flow trail with jumps, berms and unique rock features.
- College Boy: Lower College Boy was redesigned in 2022 and Upper College Boy is being refreshed this summer to provide a top-to-bottom intermediate to advanced trail that is also suitable for adaptive mountain bikes.
