McCarran Loop
The McCarran Loop is not a difficult ride with regards to terrain or hill climbing. It is however challenging and involves good bike skills as traffic considerations are a real concern. This ride can be picked up in any part of the city. All you have to do is get onto McCarran Blvd and proceed around the city. There is a deviation to this route that I would strongly recommend however, on the northeast section of the ride turn left off McCarran onto Barring Blvd in Sparks. Follow Barring Blvd approximately 1 miles to Sparks Blvd, turn right and take Sparks Blvd south over I-80 to Greg Street. You can either turn right on Greg and head west back to McCarran Blvd or cross Greg and pick up the Reno Bike Path which will take you to the bridge on McCarran where you can continue the loop. Head South and continue on with the loop. This route is much safer than trying to cross the interchange with McCarran Blvd and I-80 and a lot less traffic to deal with. Travel around past the shopping area and on to Longley Lane. Continue west toward Meadowwood Mall. I prefer to turn right on Neil Road and then head west on Pecham Lane. There is much less treffic here and you avoid the mall and complicated intersection at Virginia Street. It is an easy finish from there.
